On September 12, 2005, Chris Swan
from our community, and Dick Kauffunger from Layhill, met with members of the
planning board staff regarding the proposal for the development. To
update everyone, the plan currently calls for a total of 38 homes at the
location, with Vedanta's present building remaining as is, but with an
additional 6,000 square foot building for worship. As the developer
is applying for a type of zoning known as Planned Development, the staff
members suggested changes in order for the requirements for that type of
zoning to be met. The changes deal with internal roadways and
paths, plus a reduction in the number of connections onto Homecrest Road.
It was felt by all involved that in view of the first proposal calling for 128
residences, we are currently looking at a much more acceptable addition
to our area and one that will be even better as our representatives in
cooperation with members of the planning board staff tweak the site plan
toward its final form.
